As to the Advocacy draft 1, I think my strength lies in my research. In the proposal part, I have written twelve sources for the annotated bibliography. But when I started to write the AP draft I, I found that the sources I found in the proposal weren't very effective in providing solutions, so I had to find new sources for my AP. Through this exercise, I have deepened my understanding on researching and how to use sources effectively in my essay. 

 

I struggled the most in analyzing the possible solutions and finding out the most suitable one. In the draft 1, I have read many academic sources for inspiration, and I have found many recommendations for the youth marijuana use issue. But I think every solution has some drawbacks. It appears that there is no perfect solution, so I have to compare and analyze carefully to decide which one is better at solving problems. In the second draft, I have to analyze more and dig deeper. I believe this would be a challenging but meaningful practice.

 

I look for sources at the school online Library, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, etc. I think the most important part is to select and change the keywords. A different combination of keywords could provide me more relevant sources. Researching is really a valuable tool for academic writing. I have to learn how to incorporate other’s idea into my research and build my arguments on those sources. 

 

Speaking of the multi-modal, I realized I hadn't used them effective in my HCP because I failed to illustrate them and connect to my research. I might have found some useful multi-modals, but I didn’t present them in a way that makes them more effective. In this AP, I would definitely utilize the multi-modal better by adding adequate illustrations and presentations.

2.文章主题

一篇文章只需做到“3波9折”便是好文章。文章里必定要描绘“抵触”，抵触才干引人入胜。一个“抵触”便是一个“曲折”。而平淡无奇的文字味同嚼蜡，让人失掉阅览感。3波，便是3大部分；9折，便是每一“波”里有3小“折”，共9折。曲折太少不行精彩，太多又磨蹭。

 

3.文章结束

结束要简练明快，总结点亮文章的主题，和开始的遥遥相对。对一个留学生来说，要把作文写好，先要把文章的架构学好。这个又是很容易学的。再就是要多读多写，把自己的文字功夫练好，词汇丰厚起来，文字流通起来。很难的便是思维。没有思维的文章是没有生命力的，是文字的堆砌，是死的。取得思维的方法便是多实践，多阅历苦楚，多感悟，在此基础上多阅览去汲取思维，再在好教师的指导下深入感悟思维。
